An audio guide app made for and in collaboration with Nidarosdomen – The Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim – for the course Experts in teams at NTNU in 2018. 

Historical monuments are locations that attract large amounts of tourist, both nationally and internationally. Often these kinds of attractions offer guided tours, where the guide's task is to convey information and facts about the history of each monument. During busy seasons there is, however, a need for more alternatives. 

Thus, Nidarosdomen wanted an audio guide to relieve their guides, and for tourists to bring with them when touring the cathedral, both inside and outside. The result was an app that tourists could use on their own phones, meaning Nidarosdomen would not need to buy and maintain equipment. The prototype was developed in two months by myself, as different tasks of the project was divided between the six team members. 

The prototype includes the West front, maybe the most iconic part of the cathedral. It consists of more than 70 statues. Two of these are made interactive in the prototype, marked in red. 

The West front is divided into five sections. As there are several statues, selecting one from the full image would be impossible since they are too small. This was solved by dividing it into smaller sections that you then choose a statue from. The prototype lets you choose two different sections: the ones with a red statue. 

Both audio and text guides are incorporated to include different people, regardless of sensory impairment or simply preferred form of communication.

It is an early version, but it shows the idea behind the functionality and design, inspired by music apps like Spotify and Apple music. 

At the end of the project I made illustrations of each team member to use for presentations in the final report, as a personal touch.
